Bye, mother.
Thursday, June 30th, 2005As I mentioned before, I’m losing my job. There’s still no date, but it’s suspected that it will be between Aug and Oct. Since there are about 150 of us being layed off, finding work within the company is difficult. There certainly aren’t 150 open positions, after all.
Today, we were notified that one of our helpdesks could use a bit of shapping-up. Their stats are trash and the company is interested in sending a group of us there for two or three months to assist in them getting their shit together. It will extend our stay with the company by 60 days, starting on the last day of the detail. Essentially, it will give me a better chance of staying with the company. If we do what it is they want us to do, we’ll have more time to find placement within.
Here’s the kicker… It’s in Mumbai, India. Youch! I mean, I’ll still need to job-shop during this time and doing so from over-seas will prove to be difficult. Most companies prefer face-to-face interviews as opposed over-the-phone. What to do….
Pro: Better chance of staying with the company; traveling is uber-fun; I’ll be put up in a nice hotel on the ocean.
Con: Hinder my job-shopping. Kitty will need to be watched, too.
What do you guys think?
