The way I look at it.

I’ve noticed that most of the people [in my area] who’s vehicles bear the ‘Support the Troops’ stickers drive trucks or SUVs. This angers me.

First off, who doesn’t support the troops? It’s not like there are a bunch of Americans who want the troops to die… Actually, I DO know of a large group who doesn’t support them; truck & SUV drivers. Think about it. Our troops are over there getting shot at because of oil. We’ve been to the Middle-East over and over again for years so that we can ‘Liberate’ brown people and take their oil from them at the lowest cost possible. Why do we need all that oil? Because of fuckhead-Americans who feel the need to drive the biggest goddamn tank WITHOUT ever really hauling anything [you know, what trucks and SUVs are made for.] A ‘Support the troops’ sticker on a truck? That’s a bit like putting a ‘Peace’ sign on a gun…

So fuck you and take those cliches off the back of your truck. I support the troops and you don’t. You’re the reason that 1/4 of our 18 year olds getting their heads blown off, genius.

See where this is all going?

Terry Tempest Williams recently wrote a book entitled, “The Open Space of Democracy.” The book touches on the recent election and things of a political nature in general.

She was scheduled to speak at a college [and, I use this term loosely] in Florida prior to the elections, but was told that she wouldn’t be allowed to because they feared her speech to be “too political.” Funny, right? Especially considering Dick Cheney spoke at the same school one week prior to the November election.

Apparently, the school offered her $5000 for her troubles, but she refused it and told them to use it to create a forum for Freedom of Speech on campus.

What’s next for our institutions of higher education? ‘No learning?’

Think about this for a second… It’s scary, no?
